On November 30, 2021, the 14th meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Forum for Cooperation between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea was successfully completed in Dushanbe.
The participants of the meeting agreed that the Forum of Cooperation between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea is increasing its capacity year by year and achieving its goals. The parties expressed satisfaction with the exchange of views, which took place in the spirit of traditional, open and forward-looking friendship.
In the framework of the 14th Forum of Cooperation between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, four meetings of experts of sectoral bodies of the Forum of Cooperation between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea were held in the fields of forestry, carbon neutrality, health and digital technology.
The adoption of the Work Plan of the Secretariat of the Forum for 2022 is an important step forward in supporting projects in six areas of cooperation in the medium and long term. These include transport and logistics, energy, industrial renewal and diversification, climate change and the environment, health and medicine, education, culture and tourism.
By agreement of the parties, Lee Chung Guk's candidacy for the post of Director of the Secretariat was approved.
The participants of the Forum noted the effectiveness of the meeting of experts of sectoral bodies of the Forum member states and the preparatory meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, which discussed the content of the 14th Forum.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the work of the Business Council of the Secretariat of the Central Asia-Korea Cooperation Forum, which was held on November 29, 2021 in Dushanbe at the initiative of the Tajik side in the first Business Forum in 5 + 1 format.
At the end of the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Forum member states a joint statement was adopted, which outlined the results of fruitful consultations in the framework of today's meeting.
The Republic of Tajikistan has completed its chairmanship in the Central Asia-Republic Cooperation Forum. In accordance with the unanimous decision of the Foreign Ministers of the 14th session, the Republic of Korea took over the chairmanship of the 15th Cooperation Forum.
The initiative to establish the Central Asia-Korea Cooperation Forum was put forward by the Korean side in 2007 in order to increase efforts to expand and strengthen ties between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, as well as to develop regional cooperation.
