Addressing global warming issue requires urgent action – Nizami Ganjavi Center’s ?o-?hair

BAKU: Carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere have increased by more than 1.5 times over 30 years, and urgent measures are needed to address global warming, Co-Chairman of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Ismail Serageldin said, Trend reports. He made the remark during the High-Level Dialogue on Advancing Climate Transparency through Universal Participation in the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) held today in Baku. According to him, if 30 years ago humanity was letting the carbon dioxide cat out of the bag at a rate of 33 billion tons per year, now it's upped the ante to a whopping 54 billion tons per year, and the concentration of this greenhouse gas reached a tipping point in 2024. Methane and nitrous oxide, two more greenhouse gases, have reached their peak concentrations in the past 800,000 years of Earth's history, he explained. Serageldin noted that making climate-related decisions that will lessen the harm that climate change is causing to the planet is critically important. "Tha nks to Azerbaijan's determination and collective commitment to working together, we must save humanity from disaster," he added. Nizami Ganjavi International Center is a cultural, non-political organization that honors the memory of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi and spreads and studies his works. Its goal is to promote dialogue and understanding between cultures and peoples so that societies can work well for everyone. Source: Trend News Agency
