Azerbaijan detained 11 foreigners over violating state border last month

The State Border Service has continued measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, fight against smuggling, illegal migration, and the illegal circulation of drugs over January of 2024, State Border Service told APA. During the month, 24 people were detained for violating the state border, 13 of them were citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 from Pakistan, 2 from Nepal, 2 from Tajikistan, 1 from India, 1 from Morocco, 1from Georgia and 1 from Trkiye. ?As part of measures to combat illegal migration, 19 people tried to cross the state border with fake date stamps, forged passports and documents belonging to others. 1103 people were detained for violating the rules of the border regime and appropriate measures were taken against them. Additionally, 305 people wanted by the Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities as a result of anti-crime measures. 374 people who were prohibited from exiting the country were prevented from leaving, and 16 people who were prohibited from entering Azerbaijan were prevented.
