The global companies the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) invested in the most have been revealed. As of July 1 of current year, the Fund’s investments in 14 currencies covered 1,570 companies from 26 countries across the globe, SOFAZ told APA-Economics.
According to the statistics, for the first half of 2023, the value of the listed shares of the Fund is USD 10.7 billion, which is 81.3% more compared to the corresponding period last year. In the six months of 2022, this figure was 5.9 billion dollars.
There was also a change in the stock portfolio of the TOP-5 companies in which SOFAZ invested the most. The Fund has increased its investments in Apple Inc. by 2.3 times last year from $211 mln which amounted to 497 million dollars. In other words, the share of Apple Inc in the stock portfolio of SOFAZ increased from 3.7% to 4.7%.
The fund increased its investments in Microsoft from $173 mln to $390 million, and its share in the stock portfolio from 3.0% to 3.7%. Investment in Google increased by 82.6% from $121 mln to 221 mln (its share in the portfolio increased by 2.1%).
SOFAZ owned Amazon’s share of $195 mln. This means a 2.1 times increase over the last year. As of July 1, 2022, this number will be $92 million. Also, the share of Amazon in the Fund’s stock portfolio increased from 1.6% to 1.8%.
