Baku: Azerbaijan imported 18,941.9 kilograms of gold valued at USD 1.703.7 billion from January to March 2025, according to calculations conducted by APA-Economics based on the report of the State Statistical Committee. The average import price per kilogram of gold during this period was USD 89,650.7.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan's domestic gold production in the first quarter amounted to 749.4 kg. In the same timeframe, the country exported 1,014.2 kg of unprocessed gold to Switzerland, with a total value of USD 65,218.3 thousand. The average export price for one kilogram was USD 64,305.2.
The report further details the volume and average import prices of gold from various countries. Russia was the largest supplier, exporting 4,416.04 kg of gold worth USD 403,255.41 thousand. Other significant sources included Australia with 3,353.93 kg valued at USD 290,123.54 thousand, and Great Britain with 2,189.22 kg worth USD 198,272.24 thousand.
Additional countries contributing to Azerbaijan's gold imports were Mexico, Canada, China, Germany, Turkey, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and several others. The imports included semi-finished gold forms such as bars, wires, profiles, sheets, strips, or ribbons exceeding 0.15 mm in thickness.
