Diplomat: The Sudanese army has taken over and rebellion will be suppressed soon

“What is happening in Sudan is not a civil war. It is a failed coup attempt by forces that were previously one of the factions of the Armed Forces and rebelled to seize power, and then destroyed by the decision of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces,” temporary charge d’affaires of the Sudanese embassy in Azerbaijan Mustafa Abdul Halim Mahmoud said regarding the situation in Sudan, APA reports.

According to him, understanding the hardships of democratic transition in Africa is important, because the Sudanese crisis is closer in detail to those in African countires that have previously witnessed similiar hardships to transition to democratic civil governance.

The diplomat stressed that now the Sudanese Armed Forces have taken over and are capable of quickly suppressing the rebellion, but do not use excessive force for the sake of the lives of citizens and the safety of the country’s infrastructure.

Sudanese diplomat highlighted that Sudanese government and rebels don’t hold direct negotiations: “The purpose of the agreement signed in the capital Jeddah is to deliver humanitarian aid to the victims, which was implemented by Saudi Arabia and the United States.

The rebellion has subsided and now continues in the limited areas of the capital Khartoum”.
