The Joint External Evaluation of the International Health Regulations Mission will assess Kyrgyzstan’s capacity to prevent, detect and rapidly respond to public healthcare threats. Press center of the Ministry of Health reported.
According to it, 15 international technical experts from different countries, technical institutes and UN agencies will take part in it. They will study 19 technical areas, including immunization, laboratories and more, through a joint process involving international and national experts.
The objectives of the mission are to comprehensively assess the republic’s capabilities in the field of health security, identify weaknesses and strengths, and provide the country with valuable information to effectively respond to emerging public healthcare threats.
«Kyrgyzstan is the first among the 53 countries of the WHO European Region that has conducted the second round of external evaluation. This achievement demonstrates the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthening the potential for health security and ensuring the well-being of the population,» the ministry noted.
The Joint External Evaluation helps countries identify the most critical gaps in their human and animal healthcare systems to open up priority opportunities for improved preparedness and response.
