Inter RAO (operator of electricity export and import in Russia) for the first time in history began to supply electricity to Kyrgyzstan. The company told journalists.
«On April 15, 2023, for the first time in history, the supply of electricity from the UES (Unified Energy System) of Russia to the energy system of Kyrgyzstan began in transit through the UES of Kazakhstan,» the company noted.
Inter RAO added that 900 million kilowatt-hours of energy will be supplied in the period from April 2023 to March 2024. Up to 400 megawatt-hours is currently delivered due to the capacity of Kazakhstan’s networks.
It is noted that Inter RAO can, if necessary, fully cover the energy deficit in Kyrgyzstan, which has already reached 3 billion kilowatt-hours.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Sabyrbek Sultanbekov noted that Kyrgyzstan and Russia would conclude an agreement on the supply of electricity to the Kyrgyz Republic.
