Kazakhstan preparing biannual report on climate transparency – presidential adviser

BAKU: Kazakhstan is preparing its Biannual Transparency Report (BTR) on climate, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan and Special Representative of the President of Kazakhstan for International Environmental Cooperation Zulfiya Suleimenova said, Trend reports. She made the remark during the High-Level Dialogue on "Boosting climate transparency through universal participation in the enhanced transparency framework (ETF)" held today in Baku. Furthermore, she drove home the point that the adoption of BTRs is the key to getting a handle on and keeping tabs on the overall progress in climate efforts. She asserts that the BTR's ratification will greatly aid in the fight against climate change. "For Kazakhstan, the importance of accelerating climate action became most evident after the floods that occurred this past spring. A significant part of our territory was flooded, causing enormous damage to citizens and the country's economy as a whole," she said. The presidential advisor also spilled the beans that K azakhstan is currently cooking up its BTR and intends to hand it in before the upcoming COP29 conference in Baku in November. "We look forward to continuing our joint efforts and dialogue on this important platform, as well as achieving significant results by COP29," added Suleimenova. Source: Trend News Agency
