On October 29, 2021 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Muhriddin received the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Margareta Sederfelt.
A wide range of issues of cooperation in the framework of the OSCE was discussed at the meeting.
The parties noted the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation for the expansion of relations.
In addition, the interlocutors stressed the importance of joint resistance to modern challenges, such as the impact of COVID-19 on the economy, climate change, border security, the fight against terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking and weapons. Issues of human rights, gender equality and increasing the role of women in the political and economic life of society were also discussed.
During the meeting the recent developments in Afghanistan were discussed and S. Muhriddin informed about the alarming situation on the border with this country.
The two sides expressed readiness to use the vast opportunities for the development of cooperation in the framework of the three dimensions of the OSCE.
