Presentation of the UN Roadmap for a Sustainable Development Framework in Tajikistan

On July 15, 2021, a joint event of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and the United Nations Permanent Coordination Office in the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs entitled “Presentation and approval of the roadmap for a new UN Framework for Sustainable Development”.

The forum was attended by deputy heads of government ministries and agencies and their experts, heads of UN specialized agencies, members of its national team and representatives of civil society.

The event was held in order to raise awareness of government agencies on the process of developing a new UN Framework for Sustainable Development in Tajikistan for 2023-2026, which will lay the foundation for the implementation of joint UN programs in our country.

The forum was opened by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Ashurboy Solehzoda and by the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Tajikistan Sezin Sinanoglu. In the opening part, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Muzaffar Huseinzoda also spoke about the stages of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations in various fields and the position of our country in relation to the said Framework of Cooperation. At the same time, it was noted that strengthening and expanding cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Then the experts of the UN country team in Tajikistan provided the participants with information and presentations on the main aspects of the new UN Framework Roadmap for Sustainable Development and provided specific answers to the questions of the audience.

It should be noted that the final draft of the new UN Framework for Cooperation on Sustainable Development will be prepared by June 2022 and will be submitted to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for further consideration and approval.
