Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University dismissed from office, following presidential order

Rector of Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) Mustafa Babanli was dismissed from his post, Trend reports.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed the corresponding order.

Mustafa Babanli was appointed Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry on September 3, 2015.

Meanwhile, established in 1920, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) is recognized as one of the leading public universities in Baku, Azerbaijan. It holds the distinction of being the first higher technical school specializing in oil and gas in Europe and Asia. In the QS World University Rankings 2024, ASOIU is ranked between 1201-1400.

In 2016-2017, the French-Azerbaijan University (UFAZ) was established at ASOIU. UFAZ offers a unique opportunity for students, with all courses being conducted in English. Students enrolled at UFAZ have the chance to obtain a joint diploma from the University of Strasbourg and ASOIU. Since its inception, UFAZ has admitted 143 students.
