Sadyr Japarov to participate in online summit of SCO Council of Heads of State

The President of Kyrgyzstan will take part in the online summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). It will take place on July 4.

According to the press service of the head of state, the heads of the SCO member states — Kyrgyzstan, India, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the heads of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Belarus, Mongolia will participate in the event, which will be held under the chairmanship of India. In addition, the heads of six international and regional organizations: the UN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the CIS, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will also take part in the summit.

It is noted that Iran will get the status of a full member state of the SCO.

Within the framework of the summit, the New Delhi Declaration of the SCO Council of Heads of State will be signed and a number of documents will be adopted, in particular, the statement of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO on countering radicalization leading to terrorism, separatism and extremism, the decision to approve the SCO Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2030, to approve the concept of cooperation between the SCO member states on the decarbonization of transport, promotion of digital transformation and innovative technologies to achieve higher efficiency and sustainability.

The last SCO summit was held in person in September 2022 in Samarkand.
