Bishkek hosts bicycle race dedicated to city day

Bishkek hosted a bicycle rally dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the capital on April 2, the mayor's office said. Some 2,000 cyclists departed from the Ala-Too central square and finished near Asanov Park.

Construction of new micro-district at former prison’s site in Bishkek to end in 1.5 years – President

The construction of a micro-district at the site of penal colony No.47 will be completed in 1.5 years, President Sadyr Japarov wrote. The colony has been recently moved to Moldovanovka village. "On the basis of the State Mortgage Company, some 5,500 families will receive a mortgage for 20 years. In addition, we are building multi-storey houses in Naryn, Talas and Jalal-Abad regions. Other projects in other regions, districts, and cities are also being prepared," the President wrote. More than 50,000 families will be provided with housing by 2026 under the My House - 2021-2026 program, he said. In 2022, Head of Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov said that correctional facility No.47 was moved out of Bishkek and announced competition of a housing estate on 8.6 hectares of land at its place.

Shoes of Kyrgyz people worn in 18th and 19th centuries – in Pictures

The Sulaiman-Too national historical and archaeological museum complex in Osh has shoes worn by the Kyrgyz in the 18th and 19th centuries. The adult and children's shoes are made of wood and leather, according to acting director of the museum Hairullo Ibaidillaev. The museum stores more than 33,000 exhibits, including 6,694 archaeological pieces, 3,702 ethnographic pieces, 19,852 documents and photographs, and 1,196 handicraft items. Shoes dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries refer to the ethnographic items. Some of them were brought to the museum by people and some were found by museum workers, Ibaidillaev said.
