69.8% of voters favor nuclear plant construction in Kazakhstan – exit poll

ASTANA: 69.8% of voters back nuclear power plant construction in Kazakhstan, says an analyst from the private fund "Institute of Comprehensive Social Research - Astana", Trend reports. An exit poll conducted by the institute shows that 30.2% of voters opposed the project. On October 6, Kazakhstan held a referendum on the construction of the nuclear power plant. Preliminary data from the Central Election Commission indicates a voter turnout of 63.87%, with 7.8 million people casting their votes out of 12.24 million eligible voters.
