The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, has met with the Judge and Member of the Supreme Court of Iraq, Khusom Abdukarim Yusuf, who is the special representative of the Supreme Court of Iraq to investigate cases of women and children from Tajikistan.
During the meeting, in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, ways and legal issues that contribute to the return of Tajik children to their homeland were discussed. A representative of the Supreme Court of Iraq expressing gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the constant attention and humane efforts regarding the fate of Tajik women and children who, by means of lost husbands or parents, were sent to the fields of wars in Iraq and Syria, stressed the willingness of the Iraqi executive bodies in close cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the speedy return home of Tajik children.
Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Supreme Court of Criminal Investigations of Iraq held separate conversations with Tajik mothers, and also familiarized themselves with the conditions of their and their children's detention in prisons and orphanages.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan also has met with representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Iraq to discuss the state of health and improve the living conditions of Tajik children and future cooperation in of their return to the homeland. It has been decided that cooperation and joint initiatives to determine the number of Tajik women and children in Iraq will continue.
