The briefing began with opening remarks by the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkey Alvaro Rodriguez, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkey Ashrafjon Gulov and the Head of the Environment, Climate Change and Transboundary Waters Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Adnan Altay Altinors.

According to the Resolution, the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” began on International Water Day — March 22, 2018 and will last until March 22, 2028.
The representative of the Tajik Embassy explained to the attendees the content of the said conference and presented the preparation process for it, the program, the concept and other relevant information about the event.
Along with this, the participants discussed various aspects of water and climate issues and made a speech on the role of the conference in the process of preparing for next year’s UN conference on the mid-term review of the Second Water Decade.
Following the briefing, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkey had an interview with representatives of the Turkish media about the international initiatives of President Emomali Rahmon related to water.
