Co-organized by Azerbaijan's Embassy in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress (BAK), with the support of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, an event to mark 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been held in the city of Rotterdam.
The participants honored memory of national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of the Motherland, with observing a minute of silence.
The event featured the screening of a documentary highlighting the rich, meaningful life and political activity of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress Elsevar Mammadov highlighted the exceptional services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the history of national statehood of Azerbaijan. He said that Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern oil strategy, laid the foundation of Azerbaijan's independence by attracting foreign investors to the country with the signing of the "Contract of the Century" in 1994.
Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev also highlighted Heydar Aliyev's unparalleled services to the restoration of Azerbaijani statehood as well as his historical role in preserving the country's independence and strengthening its statehood. 'Thanks to his political wisdom and tireless efforts, Heydar Aliyev saved Azerbaijan, the country which was in the middle of crisis, from the threat of deep economic and political crisis,' the diplomat added.
Other speakers emphasized that National Leader Heydar Aliyev's wise policy is being successfully continued by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Victorious Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, saying that under the leadership of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani army crushed the enemy in the 44-day Patriotic War and restored the country's territorial integrity.
The event participants then viewed a photo exhibition highlighting the political activity of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.
