In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan was held a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Muhriddin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmaniyam Jaishankar, who is on an official visit to our country.
The sides discussed the development of bilateral relations and expressed interest in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and India in various fields. The issues of expansion and strengthening of the legal framework of bilateral relations have also been considered.
The meeting focused on the implementation of agreements reached during high-level visits, the signing of new bilateral documents, the coordination of joint activities in various formats, including in the framework of meetings of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and India.
In this regard, the sides stressed the importance of expanding trade, economic, investment and scientific-technical ties between the two countries, the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, cooperation in industry, energy, culture, tourism and defense.
The parties expressed readiness to combat global threats - terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime.
It was noted that the holding of the Ninth Conference of Foreign Ministers of the "Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process", which was held on March 30, 2021 in Dushanbe, will promote the peace process, resolve the situation in Afghanistan and expand cooperation with the participating countries.
The meeting also discussed other issues related to the expansion of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and India in the framework of international and regional organizations, including the Dialogue between Central Asia and India.
