Germany on the margins of the 23rd session of the OSCE Ministerial Council Mr. Sirojiddin Aslov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has met with Mr. Sebastian Kurz, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria.

During the meeting, the parties have discussed the prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Austria, priorities of the Austrian OSCE Chairmanship in 2017, issues of the agenda of the Ministerial Council Meeting, as well as further cooperation of Tajikistan with the Organization.

The same day, the Tajik Foreign Minister has met with Mr. Dan Rosenblum, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.

At the meeting, the two parties have exchanged views on regional security issues, including situation in Afghanistan, need to strengthen security in transit corridors of this country, and to address financial, economic and environmental problems in the region.

S. Aslov drew attention of the US State Department representative to the importance of taking joint measures in preventing acts of violent extremism and fighting terrorism. The parties have expressed readiness to continue their cooperation in implementation of the abovementioned objectives.

On 8 December, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan has also met with Ambassador Peter Burian, EU Special Representative for Central Asia. The two sides have discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union, including in implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia.

The parties have considered the possibility of presentation of the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan in the relevant EU institutions. Mr. Burian has expressed readiness to assist the Tajik side in implementation of this initiative.

In the afternoon, during a meeting held with Mr. Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan on Political Affairs, the issues of political and economic cooperation between the two countries, regional security issues, as well as internal situation in Afghanistan have been addressed.

The Afghan senior diplomat expressed gratitude to his Tajik counterpart for drawing the attention of the international community to the problems of Afghanistan and calls for assisting the Government in solving the abovementioned problems.

During the meeting of the Tajikistan Foreign Minister with Mr. Peter Stenlund, Secretary of State of the Finland Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interlocutors have focused on issues of bilateral relations between the two countries, including enhancement of trade and economic cooperation, encouragement of business circles for mutually beneficial cooperation by holding business fora and establishment of a joint economic commission.

In addition, Mr. Peter Stenlund has expressed his country's readiness to establish cooperation with Tajikistan in the fields of education, science and culture
