On 12 April 2022, at the United Nations Headquarter the Permanent Missions of Tajikistan, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UN, in cooperation with UNDESA and UN-Water organized a Briefing on the UN 2023 Water Conference to provide information on the work that they have done and their future plans.

During the event, the co-hosts of the Conference 2023Sulton Rakhimzoda Hank Ovink briefed the participants on the preparatory process of the UN Water Conference 2023, further steps and expected results. It was noted that water is a fundamental part of all aspects of the life of the world population, and the UN-2023 Water Conference aims to take concerted action to achieve internationally agreed water related goals and targets.

Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Mr.Liu Zhenmin as a Secretary-General of the UN Water Conference 2023 and the Chair of UN-Water Mr. Gilbert Houngbo also shared their views on the preparatory process for the Conference and their expectations from the UN 2023 Water Conference.

The Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as co-chairs of the conference, and UNDESA and UN-Water, as the Secretariat of the conference, intend to make the UN-2023 Water Conference a watershed moment that unites the whole world to achieve water related goals and targets.
