The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) under the government of Tajikistan received 10 sets of rescue equipment, manufactured by the Holmatro Company of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for emergency rescue operations and purchased by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Tajikistan.
This support was implemented within the fouryear project on Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Capacity, signed between Tajik CESCD, the Government of Japan and the UNDP in September 2016, reported the CESCD's Press Centre.
The rescue equipment kit includes cutters, spreaders (extenders), combination tools, crash kits, generalpurpose kits, hydraulic racks, mechanical and pneumatic racks, lowpressure pneumatic pads, highpressure pneumatic pads, light pole, manual and mechanized tools.
The Chairman of the CESCD Rustam Nazarzoda, Ambassador of Japan to Tajikistan Hajime Kitaoka, UNDP Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Pratibha Mehta, as well as heads and representatives of several international organizations accredited in Tajikistan attended handing over ceremony.
Nazarzoda in his speech thanked the partners for the equipment provided and stressed that the equipment will undoubtedly help save many lives and facilitate the work of rescuers.
Following the speech, the signing ceremony of the act of acceptance and transfer of the equipment took place. The Chairman of the CESCD Nazarzoda and UNDP Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Mehta signed the act.
