A festival celebrating the Chakan will take place on June 15 through June 17 in Kulob.

The festival's aim is to revive folk crafts and promote the Years of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts.

More than 300 young people from different cities and districts of the country are expected to attend the festival.

The festival will include a procession with the participation of 12,500 young women dressed in Chakan and a concert with the participation of young stars. Additionally, a scientificpractical conference on the theme The Role of the Leader of the Nation in the Presentation of National Culture: Chakan Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, job fairs for those seeking employment, a training seminar for young entrepreneurs and young people who want to engage in business and an exhibition of youth achievements will be organized within the framework of the festival.

Chakan has a long history, which is associated with the life, lifestyle, customs and spiritual world of the Tajik people.

Chakan is included in UNESCO's representative list of Cultural Intangible Heritage of Mankind.
