The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti met with the leadership of the ministries and departments, representatives of the private sector and businessmen yesterday in Dushanbe, reports Khovar's correspondent, who took part in this meeting.
The meeting's focus was the private sector and regional integration.
The Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan Farrukh Hamralizoda opened the meeting.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Davlatali Said delivered a speech on behalf of the government of Tajikistan.
We consider the EBRD one of our main and reliable partners, said Said.
Chakrabarti, in turn, gave a speech on developing the private sector, strengthening the financial sector, supporting important infrastructure projects, saving electricity, providing water for the population, improving utilities and developing the transport industry.
Currently in Tajikistan, 22 investment projects are being implemented with EBRD's funding worth more than $520 million.
The bank plans to finance an additional 11 projects in the public sector with over $290 million in the near future.
