Emomali Rahmon congratulates Kazakhstan President Tokayev on re-election

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has congratulated Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his landslide victory in a snap presidential election that took place on November 20.

 

The Tajik president’s official website says that during phone talks with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Emomali Rahmon today morning warmly congratulated the esteemed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on re-election to the high post of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, wishing him new great success in his state activities for the benefit of sustainable development and prosperity of the friendly Kazakhstan.

 

During the talks, the parties reportedly also discussed state and prospect of further expansion of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

 

The presidents also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

 

At the end of the talks, Tokayev invited Rahmon to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan at any time convenient to him.

 

Emomali Rahmon, for his part, invited Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to pay visit to Tajikistan.

 

The exact dates of the visits will be communicated through diplomatic channel.

 

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan were established on January 7, 1993. Diplomatic mission of Tajikistan in Kazakhstan started to operate in June, 1993. Diplomatic mission of Kazakhstan, which received the Embassy status in January 2001, has operated in Dushanbe as an independent Mission since April, 1998.

 

Since diplomatic relations were established, the leaders of the two states had reportedly paid eight official visits.

 

Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have signed 100 interstate and government-to-government agreements. The fundamental document – the agreement on basic relations was signed in January 1993. The strategic partnership agreement, signed on September 14, 2015, have a special place in bilateral ties.

 

The countries are implementing the Trade Facilitation Roadmap 2019-2022.

 

Besides, the countries actively collaborate within a number of international and regional organizations such as the UN, OSCE, SCO, CICA, CSTO and CIS.
