Expansion of explanatory work in the field of passport control in Istaravshan

In order to explain to the public the laws and regulations in the field of the passport system, officials of the passport and registration service of the DMIA in Istaravshan draw up a plan of meetings and inform the population about the benefits of the law and the established norms. This service is in pursuance of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan ?1652 of 18 December 2019 "On amnesty in connection with the legalization of the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons illegally staying in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan" and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan ?207 -7 of April 30, 2016 "On the procedure and requirements for connection to the telecommunications network and related services", Registration of SIM-cards with passports issued in 2014 has developed a plan of meetings with the population and has carried out explanatory and advocacy work with citizens in jamoats and settlements of the city. In the course of the meetings the participants' attention will be drawn to the observance of the passport system, information on the current legislation in the field of passports, in particular the mitigating norms. The events are informative in nature and are aimed at raising the legal awareness of citizens.

Last week, similar explanatory work was carried out by service officials in the rural communities of Qalai Baland and Guli Surkhi in Istaravshan. The meetings were attended mainly by citizens facing the problem of citizenship and passports, as well as foreign citizens, stateless persons and persons wishing to acquire the citizenship of Tajikistan. In addition, local activists and dignitaries were involved in working with the public on the issues raised in the regions. Participants of the event were urged not to be neutral in the direction of legalization. Participants' complaints and suggestions were also heard and legal advice was provided. Officials note that similar outreach is planned to be conducted in other rural communities, including remote villages in Istaravshan. Because it is the awareness of citizens about the requirements of the law and legal acts related to the passport that regulates the passport process and ensures the implementation of the law.
