5,256 health workers, including 995 doctors, 1,833 nurses, 1,547 ward attendants and 881 other workers of the health sector, will receive bonuses, an official source within a MoF told Asia-Plus.

An average monthly salary in Tajikistan’s health sector is reportedly 952 somoni (equivalent to 93.00 U.S. dollars).

Recall, President Emomali Rahmon pledged on May 1 to double salaries for health workers over a three-month period. That means nurses earning around $45 per month will take home $90 if they are involved in the front-line battle against COVID-19. Doctors, meanwhile, typically make about $120 per month.

In all, President’s Reserve Fund has allocated 12.4 million somoni for payment of special allowances to health workers.

Tajik president volunteered his one month’s salary to the anti-coronavirus war chest.
