The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin visited Russia from February 24 through February 25. The visit took place at the invitation of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, reports the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of his visit, Muhriddin held negotiations with Lavrov, which focused on a range of issues relating to the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, including in political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The parties paid attention to the implementation of the agreements reached during President Emomali Rahmon's visit to Russia last year in April.

The two ministers exchanged views on actual issues of the international agenda, as well as discussed issues relating to ensuring regional security and the cooperation within international organizations.

Following the negotiations, Muhriddin and Lavrov signed a cooperation program between the Tajik and Russian ministries of foreign affairs for 2020.
