According to the Embassy of India in Dushanbe, the Project is being executed under the USD 20 million grant in aid assistance announced by India for Tajikistan during the state visit of Hon’ble President of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind to Tajikistan in October 2018.

The groundbreaking ceremony was reportedly attended by Indian Ambassador to Tajikistan Viraj Singh, the Head of BRO Task Force in Dushanbe and Frist Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe Amirkhon Qurbonzoda.

Border Roads Organization of India (BRO), whose specialists arrived recently to Dushanbe, has been entrusted to expeditiously complete this project.

The Border Roads Organization (BRO) develops and maintains road networks in India’s border areas and friendly neighboring countries.  BRO maintains operations in 19 states and three UTs (Andaman and Nicobar Islands, J&K and Laddakh), and neighboring countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.  The BRO operates and maintains over 32,885 kilometers of roads and about 12,200 meters of permanent bridges in the country.
