On November 3, 2021, in Glasgow, in the margins of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), a high-level outreach event entitled “Strengthening the Capacity of Landlocked Developing Countries Water Relationship in COVID-19: Experiences and Solutions ”was initiated and co-chaired by the Republic of Tajikistan, the United Nations and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The meeting was attended by UN Under-Secretary-General, UN High Representative for the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries Courtenay Rattray, UN Under-Secretary-General, Head of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Liu Renmin, Minister of Environment, Climate and Industry, Zimbabwean host Mangaliso Ndlovu and IRENA Director General Francesco La Camera spoke.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseinzoda took part and spoke at the meeting. M. Huseinzoda spoke about the impact of climate change on the environment, in particular, the rapid melting of glaciers, reduced access to clean water and the need to take timely action on these issues. He called on international partners to take concerted action to mitigate the effects of climate change, conduct research and comprehensive assessment of the effects of climate change on countries, and strengthen the capacity of vulnerable institutions.

Huseinzoda spoke about the active role of the Republic of Tajikistan in promoting the World Water Agenda and international initiatives of Tajikistan in the field of water and glacier protection, as well as the essence of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028".
