Inscription of Tajikistan`s joint nominations to the World Cultural Heritage List

From November 28th to December 3rd, 2022, the 17th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO is being held in Rabat, the Kingdom of Morocco with the participation of the representatives of UNESCO Member States. During the Session, discussions were held on the proposed nominations of the intangible cultural heritage of the Member States, and were officially announced those nominations, which met all the requirements of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.

It should be noted that Tajikistan`s joint nominations were accepted in view of the five requirements and conditions noted in the abovementioned Convention.

The official inscription of “Sericulture and traditional production of silk for weaving” and “Telling tradition of Khoja Nasriddin Afandi Anecdotes” to the World Cultural Heritage List is an important achievement for the protection and popularization of the heritage of ancestors and present folk art, the rich and ancient culture of the Tajik people in the international arena.
