Kremlin: Heydar Aliyev was extraordinary figure in history of Russia-Azerbaijan relations

Heydar Aliyev, statesman of Soviet and Azerbaijan, was an extraordinary figure in the history of the USSR, Azerbaijan, and Russia-Azerbaijan relations, said Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

May 10 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the third President of Azerbaijan. Peskov stressed that the Kremlin shares the joy of this history with its Azerbaijani friends.

"He is a completely extraordinary person who was once forever engraved in the history of our common country, the history of modern Azerbaijan and the history of modern Russia-Azerbaijan relations... and of course, we preserve the memory of the role played by Heydar Aliyev," Peskov stressed.
