Launch of the World Food Program’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan

On November 26, 2021, with the assistance of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the ceremony of launching humanitarian aid by the World Food Program (WFP) to Afghanistan was held.

The aid consists of 2,500 tons of wheat flour, which will be transported to the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan through the Tajik-Afghan border checkpoints.

Humanitarian assistance is being provided as winter approaches, making it difficult for Afghans, especially those living in remote mountainous areas, to have access to food.

At present, no donors have access to these areas of Afghanistan. Therefore, Tajikistan intends to offer its territory for the transportation of such materials.
