Meeting of the Foreign Minister with the UN delegation

On 7 December 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the representative delegation of the United Nations Organizations consisting of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Central Asia, Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Ms. Natalya Gherman and Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre of the UN Office on Counter-Terrorism Mr. Jehangir Khan, who are on a working visit in our country.

During the meeting the parties expressed sincere interest in strengthening and expanding the cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan with the UN in various fields, including ensuring peace and stability in the world, combating modern threats and challenges, protecting the environment and ensuring sustainable and social development.

During the conversation, the sides also discussed the issues of the regional security, the strengthening of Tajikistan cooperation with the UN counter-terrorism units, especially with the Counter-Terrorism Centre of the UN Office on Counter-Terrorism, as well as the prospects of joint actions in this area.

Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Tajikistan condemns international terrorism and extremism and supports the effective implementation of the Joint Plan of Action for the Implementation of the United Nations Global Counter Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia and UN Secretary General's Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin also congratulated interlocutors on occasion of the beginning of the 4th phase of the Joint Plan of Action for the Implementation of the United Nations Global Counter Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia, the official ceremony of which is planned on the 8th of December 2021 in Dushanbe in the framework of the 11th meeting of Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian countries.
