Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the Secretary-General of the United Nations

On October 1, 2021 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Muhriddin took part in the General Debates of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in Dushanbe. New York met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

During the talks the sides discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN in various fields, including political, economic, social, humanitarian, environmental and security, and stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral relations.

The joint fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as an effective response to the socio-economic consequences of COVID-19 integration, climate change and its impact on water resources were the main topics of the meeting.

Your interlocutors paid special attention to the provision of emergency humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan and the strengthening of international cooperation to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in this country.

The Foreign Minister noted that Tajikistan recognizes an inclusive government, including all political and ethnic groups in Afghanistan.
