On June 17, at the Palace of the Peoples Nationalities Peace and National Unity, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the VicePresident of the Asian Development Bank Shikin Chen.
During the meeting the current situation and prospects of bilateral cooperation were considered.
President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his hope that the meeting will be an important step towards consolidating relations between Tajikistan and Asian Development Bank.
Parties are required to strengthen cooperation in the framework of the third draft of the "Environmental Reforming Program" program for entrepreneurship development and improvement of investment climate in Tajikistan.
It was noted that during the years of cooperation, the Asian Development Bank has allocated approximately $ 1.8 billion dollars as crediting loans, grants and technical assistance, aimed at the implementation of important investment projects in various socioeconomic sectors of Tajikistan.
During the meeting the issues of realization of 16 investment projects in the spheres of transport, energy, agriculture, health, education and urban development were discussed.
The establishment of cooperation in the sectors of the private sector development, particularly industrial production and development of regional cooperation, reconstruction and construction of manufacturing capacities, power transmission lines, transport and road infrastructure, including railway and food security, were considered necessary.
At the meeting also discussed issues related to the development of cooperation in the priority and strategic sectors of Tajikistan, including achieving energy independence and ensuring food security.
