Brussels hosted the next Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the countries of Central Asia and the European Union. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

Participants in the meeting discussed a wide range of issues, including preparation of a new EU Strategy on Central Asia, regional cooperation and elimination of security challenges, connectivity, attraction of investments and sustainable development of the Central Asian region, partnership in mitigation of consequences of climate change, protection of environment and water resources management, as well as other regional and international issues.

The Ministers emphasized the necessity of continuing the mutually rewarding cooperation of the countries of the region with the European Union in order to enhance the economic, transit, transport, agriculture and energy potential of the countries of Central Asia, improve investment climate, ensure sustainable development of the region, handle effective border management, develop human resources and support small and medium-sized businesses.
