In Moscow, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin took part in a regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

During the meeting, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies discussed issues of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian interaction within the Commonwealth, held a thorough exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and international agendas.

In his speech, S. Mukhriddin noted the relations of constructive partnership that have developed between the CIS member states, based on the principles of trust and mutual respect. He stressed that Tajikistan supports the priority areas and tasks proposed by the Belarusian chairmanship in the CIS.

S. Mukhriddin drew the attention of the meeting participants to the challenges faced by the member states of the Commonwealth due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. In this context, the need for close interaction to level the factors of economic, social and other instability, joint development of new and non-standard approaches was noted.

In the context of considering security issues, the Minister spoke for the adoption of the necessary measures for the practical implementation of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on the formation of a single list of terrorist and extremist organizations banned in the territories of the CIS member states.

S. Mukhriddin said that Tajikistan invariably attaches great importance to the issues of deepening cooperation within the CIS in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. In this regard, the meeting participants were informed about the holding on March 21 of this year. in Tajikistan, the solemn ceremony of the beginning of the implementation of the Interstate program of the cultural capital "Dushanbe - the cultural capital of the CIS in 2021". It was noted that the Action Plan provides for the holding of over 30 bright and diverse cultural and humanitarian events in Dushanbe.

During the meeting, the ministers reviewed the progress in the implementation of the Action Program to enhance partnership between the foreign ministries in 2020 and the implementation of the Plan of multi-level inter-ministerial consultations within the CIS for 2020. The heads of the foreign affairs agencies agreed on the draft Address of the heads of the CIS member states to the peoples of the Commonwealth and the world community in connection with the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

As a result of the meeting, appropriate decisions were made.
