The military-political crisis in Afghanistan is a serious threat to the security of the CIS countries. This was stated yesterday by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at an online meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth.

“The military-political and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has created a serious threat to the security of our countries,” he said.

According to him, the coming to power of the Taliban has further aggravated the situation in the neighboring country, especially for Tajikistan.

In this regard, President Emomali Rahmon noted that closer coordination of the security structures of CIS countries is needed in the fight against threats emanating from Afghanistan.

Earlier, he had repeatedly stated that it is necessary to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan with the inclusion of ethnic Tajiks, who make up more than 46% of the Afghan population.
