Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race with Bayern Munich to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer, according to reports in France.
The 29-year-old reported back for pre-season training with Spurs on Wednesday but his future at the club remains in doubt ahead of the new season.
Kane has just one year remaining on his current deal and Spurs run the risk of losing him on a free transfer next year if he does not agree to sign a new contract.
Manchester United had made Kane one of their top targets but opted not to submit an offer earlier this summer due to the high costs involved in signing the striker as Spurs want in excess of £100 million.
Bayern Munich have been the first club to test Spurs’ nerve but their latest offer of £70m has been rejected.
According to RMC Sport, PSG have also made an approach to sign Kane this summer, holding talks with both Spurs and the England captain’s entourage.
The report claims that PSG were unable to find an agreement with Kane during talks which took place several weeks ago, but the French champions have scheduled a new meeting this week and are hopeful that they can convince the striker to move to Paris.
It’s claimed that Kane’s preference would be to join Bayern Munich, but last season’s Bundesliga winners are yet to reach an agreement with Spurs.
That could be where PSG hold an advantage as RMC Sport claims that the French club are willing to bid €100m (£85.5m), which could be enough to persuade Spurs to sell their leading striker, while they are also prepared to better any contract offer put forward by Bayern.
Speaking earlier this week, new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou insisted he had not received any promises over Kane’s future.
‘I haven’t had any assurances. I wouldn’t expect any,’ Postecoglou said.
‘You’re never dealing in definites with this kind of thing.
‘What I know right now is Harry is part of this squad, looking forward to coming back.’
