Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on ratification of the intergovernmental agreement with Tajikistan on organized recruitment of Tajik citizens who seek to temporarily work in Russia.

The agreement was signed on April 17 during President Rahmon's official visit to Moscow. The agreement allows authorized Tajik agencies to select candidates and check if they meet qualification requirements, provide training if necessary in Russian language, Russian history and the basics of Russian legislation, and to carry out other necessary pre-immigration training. They will also arrange travel to and their return back to Tajikistan upon completion of their jobs.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan will also run the candidates against the international or interstate wanted list.

Under this agreement, employers must actively participate in an organized recruitment of labor migrants, provide migrants with safe conditions of work and ensure regular payment of wages.
