Today, Tajik and Kyrgyz governmental delegations on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border held negotiations in Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Tajik delegation was headed by the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Saimumin Yatimov, and the Kyrgyz delegation was led by the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev, reports 24.kg.

The negotiations focused on the current situation and further actions to resolve the conflict on the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border.

“The tragedy that happened in the Kyrgyz and Tajik border regions should never be repeated,” Yatimov said at a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Tashiev.

According to him, the peoples of the two states have been living in these areas for a long historical period.

“The peoples are friendly, and they have no claims to each other. We must enable our peoples to live in peace and friendship. Today, at a meeting of representatives of the two states, we reached agreement in principle on resolving issues to ensure peace in the Kyrgyz and Tajik lands. I am convinced that we will be able to do this and will solve everything soon,” he said.

Tashiev noted that today the delegations on delimitation and demarcation of the state border adopted a protocol consisting of four points in the interests of the two countries.

“Today the Kyrgyz and Tajik peoples are going through difficult times, and happened a tragedy. It was difficult for us to hold a meeting at this time, but nevertheless, per instructions of the heads of state, we held this event and made a decision to completely stop firing and withdraw troops from the border. God willing, there will be complete silence and peace in our countries,” Tashiev emphasized.

The agreement to hold this meeting was reached following a telephone conversation between the heads of the two states.
