The Interior Ministry press center says the uniforms were presented to Emomali Rahmon on April 7 during an official opening ceremony of the Interior Ministry’s Training Center in Guliston (formerly Qairoqqum).

The uniforms have reportedly been invented by designers from Sughd province. Thus, they propose to sew the dress uniform for female police officers from Adras fabric (Adras is a type of ikat that is traditionally woven with a glossy silk warp).

A source within the country’s power-wielding structure says samples of uniforms for officers of the power-wielding structures must be approved by the president.

Budgetary funds are not enough for production of new police uniform and Tajik authorities have decided to borrow money from international community. Donors are expected to provide funds necessary for these purposes.
