The ninth meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) began today in Khiva (Uzbekistan) and will run until May 12.

Yesterday, a working group of the Tajik Ministry of Transport headed by Minister Azim Ibrahim left for Khiva to take part in the meeting.

The working group also includes the head of the Infrastructure Development Department of the Presidential Office Isojon Kurbonzoda.

The meeting will focus on the issues of the development of the transport industry, opening of multimodal corridors, transition to the digitalization structure, and other issues of the industry.

Taking into account the fact that the development of regional transport and transit potential is one of the important factors for the sustainable economic growth of the SCO countries, the issues of creating

a large-scale and integral transport system, further developing trade and economic relations through the introduction of modern digital technologies in the sphere, increasing the volume of freight traffic, formation of common views and approaches to the improvement of transport communications will also be discussed.
