The Ninth Ministerial Conference "Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process" was held in Dushanbe with the participation of participating countries, donors and international and regional organizations entitled "Strengthening the community for peace and development."

We discussed topical issues of the international and regional agenda, emphasizing the prospects for a peaceful solution to Afghanistan, the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.

We paid special attention to the promotion of inter-Afghan dialogue, which began on September 12, 2020 in Doha.

The talks also discussed practical issues of expanding bilateral relations, including in trade and economic spheres, exchange of science and education, and humanitarian projects, taking into account the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the world.

We stated that Afghanistan is an important partner of our region.

Based on the historically friendly traditions, the countries of the region support the development of political dialogue, cooperation in economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres with Afghanistan.

We have expressed our concern over the growing security situation, the activities of terrorist groups and drug trafficking in Afghanistan, especially in the regions bordering our country.

We intend to continue our constructive cooperation with Afghanistan in the interests of peace in this country, the fight against common threats, especially terrorism and drug-related crime.

Consideration was given to cooperation in economic, transit and transport, energy, logistics, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Integration processes in the region were discussed, and the importance of coordinated efforts in common integration associations was emphasized.

We reaffirmed our commitment to creating the conditions for inter-Afghan national reconciliation. We will continue these efforts in contact with the countries of the region.

We expressed concern that despite the start of the inter-Afghan negotiation process, the situation in Afghanistan is unstable and volatile.

Afghanistan is an important regional partner of ours that is going through a difficult period in its recent history.

Tajikistan pays special attention to the progress of the national reconciliation process in Afghanistan and the end of the long-running armed conflict in this country. We have always been committed to building Afghanistan as a stable, independent, and free of terrorism and drugs, and we want that country to have good relations with its neighbors, the countries of the region, and the world at large.

At the Ninth Dushanbe Conference, it was decided that the World Bank will be officially accepted as a member of the "Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process" as an international donor organization.

During the Conference, we coordinated and adopted its final document - the Dushanbe Declaration, which defines the directions of our joint cooperation to bring peace to Afghanistan.
