DUSHANBE, March 26, 2013, Asia-Plus – The newly formed Public Council for Police Reform of the Sughd Interior Ministry, whose elected delegation was approved by Interior Minister Colonel-General Rahimzoda Ramazon Hamro on March 9, held its first meeting. The meeting was attended by the National Coordinator for Police Reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel Hamdamzoda Valikhon Hamdam, members of the Council in the cities and districts of Sughd region and the OSCE representatives in Dushanbe.
The event was opened by the National Coordinator for Police Reform V. Hamdamzoda, who briefed on the process of reforms and government programs in this area.
The meeting was dedicated to two topics. Election of the Chairman of the Council, establishment of the Ethics Commission and election of the Chairman of the Commission. Thus, after getting acquainted with the voting and election of new members of the Council, Malikislomi Naim Munavvar, Chairman, Mohiniso Khorisova, Deputy Chairman, Mahmadsalim Haitov, Chairman of the Working Group and Sadriddin Saidov, Chairman of the Ethics Commission of the Council were accepted.
During the meeting, members of the Public Council for Civil Society Assistance to Police Reform under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan in Sughd region spoke about the purpose of the police reform and the role of each member in improving the reform program. It was stressed that the task of the members of the Council is to promote the development of public relations with the police for the prevention and detection of offenses and crimes.
Council members were instructed to focus their abilities and knowledge on the implementation of police reform, including increasing public cooperation with the police and increasing public confidence in the police.
