Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin had a telephone conversation with his Kyrgyz counterpart Ruslan Kazakbaev.
The conversation focused on bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues.
In the light of the upcoming events this year, the parties exchanged views on the organization of events at the high levels, including within the framework of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, the CSTO and SCO summits.
In this context, Muhriddin invited Kazakbaev to take part in the Heart of Asia — Istanbul Process 9th Ministerial Conference, which is scheduled for March 30 in Dushanbe.
Special attention was also paid to the issue of delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
The ministers stressed the importance of the full use of the potential of the Intergovernmental Commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, as well as the fulfillment of the obligations previously assumed by the parties, which will ensure the prompt resolution of border issues.
The officials also exchanged views on trade and economic cooperation, and discussed issues in the field of transport and communications.
Muhriddin noted the need to use the broad transit potential of the parties, including giving international status to the Karamyk checkpoint on the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border.
In order to further expand and deepen bilateral relations, he proposed to work out the issue of holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on the Comprehensive Consideration of Issues, as well as to hold consultations at the level of deputy ministers of foreign affairs in 2021.
