Tajik capital to host Judo Grand Prix in June next year

For the first time, Judo Grand Prix will take place in Tajikistan next year.

According to information posted on the International Judo Federation (IJF)’s website, Dushanbe will host the Judo Grand Prix tournament from June 2-4 next year.

About 300 judokas from more than 30 countries of the world are expected to compete for Olympic ranking points at certain stages of this international tournament.

Earlier, at the initiative of Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali Tajikistan had managed to agree with the International Judo Federation on holding the Judo Grant Prix tournament in Dushanbe during the period from 2023 to 2025. Later, an agreement was reportedly signed between the International Judo Federation and the Tajikistan Judo Federation.

The Judo Grant Prix tournaments are international judo tournaments being held by the International Judo Federation several times a year.

The Judo Grand Slam tournaments are international judo tournaments held by the International Judo Federation as part of the IJF World Tour.

After the Olympic Games, World Championships and World Masters, the Grand Slam tournaments are the highest-ranking worldwide judo tournaments, i.e. the tournaments in which the judoka can acquire the most ranking points.
