Tajik scientists have developed a number of dietary supplements. This was stated today by the President of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Tajikistan Farhod Rahimi at a press conference.
According to him, the introduction of biologically active additives in the domestic pharmaceutical industry can replace some dietary supplements that are being imported.
Supplements were developed by NAS scientists in collaboration with the Institute of Gastroenterology. In the near future, it will be possible to buy dietary supplements under such names as Kamolid, Kamolin, Mukofer, Sedarmon, as well as Proctoferol, Herbolit and Herbitol ointments.
“As a result of studying the healing properties of ferula, we determined that its juice and roots can be used as biologically active substances to strengthen the immune system, and therefore which can serve as the basis for the creation of dietary supplements,” said Rahimi and added that wormwood can also be utilized as an ingridient for solutions and ointments as it has antibacterial and antiviral properties.
“The variety of medicinal plants in the country and the rich resources of some of them are a favorable basis for the development of the pharmaceutical industry. However, these resources are not yet being used properly. More than 95% of drugs are still being imported,” Rahimi noted.
