Tajik athlete Razavi Navbahorov won a gold medal during the US National Sambo Championship in combat sambo in the 79 kg weight category. The event was held in Arlington, Texas, reports the Sambo Federation of Tajikistan.

The 21-year-old Navbahorov had also taken part in several international competitions in sambo and martial arts, winning competitions among his peers.

He had won a gold medal in the weight category up to 62 kg at the Berliniada-2018 international sambo tournament in Germany. In 2018, he had also won a silver medal in the weight category up to 57 kg at the World Sambo Championship among students in the Serbian city of Novi Sad.

In 2019, Navbahorov he had won a silver medal in the weight category up to 70 kg at the Asian Sambo Championship, which was held in the capital of Mongolia — Ulaanbaatar. In the same year, he had placed first at the international youth sambo tournament in the memory of Alex Nerush in the Israeli city of Rishon Lezion in the weight category up to 68 kg, defeating opponents from Latvia, Israel and Germany.

The European Cup in Minsk became the first international tournament for Tajik sambists in the 2022 season. Navbahorov brought the first Sambo medal of the new season to Tajikistan.
